The Various Applications Of A Humidifier In Society
In order to raise the moisture level of air inside a room we use a humidifier. Humidifier in general is a house old equipment or appliance. When we speak about humidifier or air moisture, the term humidity comes to play. Humidity is the degree of water vapor present in the atmosphere surrounding you. Absorption of water by air depends on the relative humidity of the place.
Humidity in general could be high or low, depending on the situation. It is the measure of presence of water vapor in atmosphere. Depending upon the amount of water vapor in air the humidity varies. In highly humid conditions we won’t perspire and makes us to feel a lot warmer than the actual temperature in the room. In this position, the air is dumped fully with water content and is not able to absorb any more.
In case of low humidity, the air is ready to absorb some more water into it. This condition makes us sweat easily because of the air sucked in the vapor. Both the above mentioned circumstances is not wanted by us, so we obviously rely on the use of humidifier to increase the humidity of the surrounding air artificially.
There are different types of humidifiers; one of such is the evaporation humidifier. This is the most common type of humidifier used now a day. It is very simple in construction but an extensive care should be taken to clean in regularly. Usually it must be cleaned on a daily basis. It is also known as wick humidifier. It uses a cloth, paper or foam wick to get water from the reservoir. A fan is blown over the wick makes the air absorb moisture. It is a self regulating type humidifier.
Ultrasonic humidifiers generates vapor by developing ultrasonic vibration of a diaphragm within the surface of water. The risk of dispersing molds, bacteria and minerals were found to be in the lower level in ultrasonic humidifiers. This device is much safer than the steam vaporizers, and also disperses less mold and bacteria when compared to cool mist humidifiers.
Steam humidifier, simply known as vaporizer, boils water inside and expels warm water vapor to the room, increasing the humidity of the room. It is the very simplest and cost involved is very low. A medicated inhalant can be used with this unit to prevent coughs.
A humidifier is built right inside the forced air furnace of buildings. The advantage of this type of humidifier is that it can also prevent wooden objects and other furnishings from damage by dry air. These humidifiers are also known as bypass humidifiers. Basically this humidifier is classified into three types, namely the drum style, disc wheel style, and flow through style.
Impeller humidifiers, which are also known as cool mist humidifiers, uses a rotating disc which flings the water making the water to float in the air as very fine droplets. These humidifiers can be a good breeding place for molds and bacteria’s. In order to prevent this, thorough cleaning of the humidifier is required regularly. The chances of burn are much reduced in this humidifier since the vapor coming out from the machine is not heated. The water used in this type of humidifier is distilled water.
